TO MANY VOICES – TO MANY CHOICES

Psalm 1:1-3 – Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His Law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

This brilliant first Psalm contrasts the righteous and the wicked. Please take special note; it seems that the difference between the two is where they get their counsel! A foolish person can be led away by a corrupt inner circle. This is what I like to call unholy alliances. So how does it all work? According to the scripture there is a pattern for heeding wrong voices:

  1. You begin to browse for the wrong counsel
  2. You begin to listen to the wrong voices
  3. Then, if you aren’t careful, you join the wrong inner circle

On the other hand, the wise man and woman get their counsel from the Word of God. They meditate on God’s word day and night. When this happens, notice the scriptural result:

  1. Stability
  2. Inward nourishment and refreshment
  3. Fruitfulness and productivity
  4. Strength and durability
  5. Success

What voices are you listening to today? Remember that wrong voices usually end up in wrong choices. Be wise – listen to the only voice that really counts, THE LORD’S!
